Facebook Perspectives

First Social Media Site:Myspace
Beginning back in 8th grade, I created my first social media site, Myspace. At first I did not understand it or the point of having one. After designing my page with personalized backgrounds and adding my pictures, I then became addicted. It was the new hot thing to do. AOL Instant Messenger was old school to me at this point. From 8th grade to 11th grade, I used only Myspace. In 2006, I began to hear about Facebook. At this time, Facebook was for college students only. I forgot about it until I found out anyone in different networks could have it. I opened an account up. I was still loyal to my Myspace. For a while, I used both of them while waiting for everyone to make their move to Facebook.

Making the Change: Facebook
I was not very fond of Facebook at first. I thought it was boring that I could not change my backgrounds, add glittery text etc. At this point, I was on my way to college. I quickly realized in college, everyone had Facebook, not Myspace. I began spending most of my time on Facebook. In 2010, I deleted my Myspace all together. For a while I kept it only because I did not want to lose all of my friends off Myspace. All of my friends now use Facebook. This is the way I communicate. I do not email them, I Facebook them. Some of my friends use Twitter. A majority stay with Facebook.

Favorite Facebook Page
My favorite Facebook page and the one I "like" is Alpha Xi Delta. I like this page because I am a member of this sorority. This is a way our national headquarters updates us with news and events. I can update them by adding a picture, making a comment, add a link etc. This is a useful site for me because I like to see what is going on around the country.

Go West Georgia: Opportunities

This video is relevant to me because I am a student at West Georgia who decided to go west because of the opportunities. This video is significant to me because I am excited to see how West Georgia is beginning to grow with advertisement. I had no plans on going to West Georgia because I did not know much about it. These new commercials are reaching out to students who otherwise would not know anything about West Georgia.
