Atlanta Braves Social Media

Creating a Facebook
The Atlanta Braves use several different social media outlets. Their main social media outlet that I am going to focus on is Facebook. I am one of their fans on Facebook and enjoy following them and staying up to date. Before I talk more about their Facebook page, I first want to discuss Facebook. Facebook is free and an easy way to contact to other people. You can go to Facebook and create your own account. Here is a video I created showing you step by step how to do this. Before you create a Facebook page for your self personally or a business take a look at 32 Ways to use Facebook for Business. This list shows you what you should do and what you should not do in order to avoid harming your business online.

Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves use Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, and smart phone applications. You can view all of these at the official Social Media Club House. This website has every connection you may want to have with the Braves online. I have also created a video showing you the Club House and their Atlanta Braves Facebook

At Bat 11
This application which I showed you in my video is becoming very popular. You can go here to find out more information about it. Mac World discusses the upcoming season and some of the changes from the previous years. If you do not want to purchase this application, you can always download Facebook on your smart phone and become a fan on Facebook and stay connected that way. This is just another example how the Atlanta Braves are staying on top of changing technology trends.

Major League Baseball
Over the years, the MLB has ran into some problems. Over the past couple years, they have started using social media to change their image. This Social Media Report Card discusses visibility, fan interaction, player involvement, content etc. This particular blogger believes that in 2009 MLB's overall grade was a "C+". They earned a "C" with fan interactions because they lack in responding back to fans. Sometimes they might retweet a few fans a day. Content and visibility scored a "B". They seem to focus on their information and their image. This is a good area to focus on though because most fans do not expect to receive interaction back from such a large organization. In 2009 the Atlanta Braves took one of their fans off Facebook and had him interview a player. This content was then posted back on Facebook.

Future for Atlanta Braves
I think the future is bright for the Atlanta Braves. People are starting to catch onto the social media out there for the Braves. One thing that might hold them back from flourishing in the social media spot light is the rules and regulations. Policies are constantly changing. Sports Business Digest suggests that social media will not be as successful because of the regulations. Last year, they banned their writers from using Twitter for anything not baseball related. Another blogger feels that the MLB scored a home run with social media. I think MLB overall is growing in the right direction with social media. The Atlanta Braves already offer great social media outlets. They will continue to be successful as long as the content and fan interactions are focused on.
